Printer Pal — Privacy Policy

Summary

Printer Pal collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. Printer Pal has no server component, stores nothing on your device, and never connects to the internet — it communicates only with your printer and with devices on your own local network.

Who we are

This policy explains how the Printer Pal app for iPhone, published by Dollar Digital, LLC ("Dollar Digital," "we," "us," or "our"), a company organized in California, handles information. It supplements our website Privacy Policy, which covers the dollardigital.us site.

Information we collect

None. Printer Pal collects no personal information, no usage data, and no diagnostic data. We receive nothing when you use the app.

Information stored on your device

None. Unlike many apps, Printer Pal saves nothing at all — not the printers it finds, not the addresses you type, not the results of any check. Everything is held only while the app is open and is gone when you close it.

Local network access

Printer Pal asks your permission to access the local network. This is the permission the app depends on, and it is used only to:

• Ask your network which printers are advertising themselves, and read the name and address each printer publishes
• Check which addresses on your network answer on the standard printing ports, in order to find printers that do not advertise themselves
• Ask a printer for its make and model, so results show a name rather than a bare address
• Test whether your phone can reach the printer address you are diagnosing
• Send a test page, when you tap "Print test page"

Printer Pal does not catalogue, store, or report the devices it encounters while looking for a printer, and no information about your network is transmitted to us or to anyone else. Without this permission the app cannot do anything useful.

Checking other devices

A phone can only test its own path to a printer, so Printer Pal can help you check the other devices in your home. When — and only when — you tap "Start device check," your phone runs a small web server on your local network. Another device on the same Wi-Fi can open the address shown in the app and load a single page, which then runs its own check from that device.

This server is off until you turn it on, serves only that one page, keeps no logs, and is reachable only from your own network — never from the internet. It stops when you tap "Stop device check" or leave the app. The page it serves contains only the printer address and name from your most recent scan; nothing about the visiting device is sent back to your phone, to us, or to anyone else.

Nothing leaves your network

Printer Pal makes no connections to the internet at all. Every request it sends goes to an address on your own local network — your printer, or a device you have asked it to check. There is no server to talk to, because we do not operate one. If your home internet were disconnected entirely, Printer Pal would work exactly as it does now.

Third parties

Printer Pal contains no third-party software development kits, advertising libraries, or analytics services — in fact it has no third-party code at all. No information is shared with anyone, because none is collected.

Children's privacy

Printer Pal is suitable for all ages and collects no information from anyone, including children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
